LDWH Seeks to Clear Up COVID-19 Confusion Over Hunting Licenses
I don't know about you, but the way Mother Nature has been acting lately is making me feel like summer is making way for autumn - and I am more than ready! If you are like me and can't wait to get into the woods this year, make sure you take what you read or see on Facebook with a grain of salt.
The Fake News
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) is taking an issue with some fake news that has been making the rounds on Facebook. This time, it has nothing to do with an election - it concerns whether or not you will be allowed to get a Louisiana hunting or fishing license if you haven't received your COVID-19 vaccine.
LDWF's Response
According to a report from WDSU, the posts and rumors claiming that unvaccinated residents would be barred from getting their licenses this year are so prolific - the LWDF has had to step up in order to clear the air. Officials have release the following statement in response:
A graphic, incorporating a Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) logo, is circulating on social media erroneously stating that LDWF will not issue new hunting licenses to persons who can’t show proof of a COVID-19 vaccination.
This is not true, do not believe it!
The department asks anyone who sees the incorrect graphic to ignore it and delete it when possible. LDWF is investigating the source of the graphic.
What investigators have in mind for the perpetrator of this hoax is unclear, but the inclusion of the official logo and seal of the LDWF will most likely land them in hot water of the legal variety.
