Lego Just Launched New Set Showcasing ‘Women of Nasa’
Lego has just launched a new set that will be available this Christmas. This new set showcases the women of Nasa, according to the Good Network.
Growing up, I loved hearing stories about women who pushed the social norm. I was obsessed with Amelia Earhart. I was obsessed with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I was obsessed with Eleanor Roosevelt. I looked up to these women because they were strong and didn't fit the stereotypical ideal that the only place for a woman was in the kitchen.
The sets show off these fantastic women:
- Sally Ride, the first woman to ever fly in space.
- Mae Carol Jemison, the first black woman to travel to outer space.
- Margaret Hamilton, the computer scientist responsible for developing software for space missions.
- Nancy Roman, an astronomer also known as 'Mother of Hubble' for her contribution to the Hubble Space Telescope.
I applaud Lego for not only encouraging young women to strive for greatness, but also shining a light on STEM research.
