Let’s Give ‘Em Pumpkin to Talk About: PSL Edition
With the arrival of the Pumpkin Spice Latte, it's officially fall.
Ok, my fall -loving peeps, it's (almost) officially fall now that the Pumpkin Spice Latter is here! Now, the fall season doesn't officially begin until September 23 this year however, we've now entered the season of pumpkin spice. This is the time of year when all of your favorite food products get a new flavor profile... Almost like a new outfit for school.
Starbucks seems to be the one who spearheads this with the Pumpkin Spice Latte which just made it's debut on August 27. Of course, I was there to get one on the Day 1 and surprisingly they weren't sold out. I bring this up, because I have waiting in drive-thru lines in the past, only to find that they are out of the magical pumpkin spice flavoring and cannot make me a latte.
Let's breakdown the ever-popular #PumpkinSpiceLatte...
Actual pumpkin content: According to Starbucks' website, the PSL does contain pumpkin in puree form which is added to the pumpkin spice sauce. This is added to the brewed espresso and milk to create your latte.
Likeability: There is truly a craze surrounding the pumpkin spice latte as seen across social media. It's a tasty drink for anyone who enjoys pumpkin and the warm spices that the fall season typically brings.
Years in existence: Good Morning America says that the Pumpkin Spice Latte made its debut in 2003.
Likelihood of its return: Judging by the fact that it comes back earlier and earlier each year, I would say that this beverage isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
Recommendation: I would definitely recommend a PSL to anyone who enjoys pumpkin and fall flavors. I typically get my lattes "extra hot", but it seemed like the pumpkin spice latte would be better served without this step. It can start to taste a little crisp... pun NOT intended.
