The 2020 NFL season featured more than half a dozen Shreveport area players on active rosters. Some dealt with injuries, while others are on their way to their first ever Conference Championship games. At this point, we're guaranteed at least TWO Shreveport area players in the Super Bowl.

That's because there's a Shreveport area player on every team left in the playoffs. Amazingly, all four teams in the Conference Championship games have a defensive player from our area. So no matter what two teams head into the Super Bowl, there will be a Shreveport area player on each roster.

Let's first look at the seasons for all of our area players...

During the regular season, the Dallas Cowboys lost their starting quarterback, and former Haughton star Dak Prescott to a serious ankle injury. This was a big blow to both the Cowboys and Dak, as the two have been trying to come together on a contract, and the loss of a season makes matters worse. Even though they might be closer on a deal now than ever before.

Another Dallas Cowboys had a breakout season in 2020. Shreveport's (Woodlawn) Donovan Wilson started his first NFL game in 2020, after playing in 11 games his rookie season in 2019. This year, Donovan recorded 71 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, and 2 interceptions. But his highlight reel makes those stats look even more impressive...

Another Wilson from Shreveport had a solid year too. Former Calvary Baptist Academy star Brandon Wilson put together a decent 13 tackle year with a forced fumble, but really made his name in the kick return phase of the game. He took back 24 kicks for 629 yards for an average of 26.2 yards per return. He also took back a 103 yard kickoff for a touchdown against the New York Giants.

Unfortunately, another Calvary Baptist star wasn't able to play this season. Shreveport's Greedy Williams dealt with a nerve injury all year that kept him off the field. The former second round pick of the Cleveland Browns will look to get back on the field in 2021.

Another defensive star from Shreveport had a strong season, but out on the West Coast. Former Evangel star Jerry Tillery started 11 games for the Los Angeles Charges in 2020, collecting 30 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, and one fumble recovery.

Now for the players still playing in the NFL Playoffs as we head to the Conference Championships.

In the NFC Championship game, former North Webster star Devin White and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will take on the Green Bay Packers for a chance to play in the Super Bowl. White had an insane season, with 140 tackles and 9 sacks. He added one forced fumble and one fumble recovery too.

In the NFC Divisional game against the New Orleans Saints, White had 11 tackles, a fumble recovery, and an interception of Drew Brees.

Devin White and Tampa Bay will take on the Green Bay Packers. The Pack will feature a former Woodlawn (Shreveport) star with defensive back Henry Black.

Black is a rookie out of Baylor, who spent the first half of the year on Green Bay's practice squad. He became a member of the active roster by November, and started contributing to the team. Putting up 8 tackles and a forced fumble in his 8 games. During his first playoff game, Black played on Special Teams for the Packers, appearing on 78% of the team's Special Teams snaps, and collecting 3 tackles.

On the other side of the NFL Divisional Round, in the AFC Championship we will see two Shreveport area players facing off. Well, kind of. They both play defense, but there's a Minden guy on the Kansas City Chiefs roster, and one Shreveport guy on the Buffalo Bills side.

First, rookie and former Minden star L'Jarius Sneed has had an incredible year for the Kansas City Chiefs, even after missing time with an injury. Sneed started 6 games for KC this year, putting together 41 tackles, 2 sacks, and 3 interceptions. In the Chiefs Divisional game against Cleveland, Sneed got his first playoff start. He cashed in for 6 tackles and a sack in the Chiefs win.

On the other side of the AFC Championship game will be former Green Oaks (Shreveport) star Tre'Davious White and his Buffalo Bills.

Tre'Davious had another monster year for the Bills in 2020, on his way to his second Pro Bowl. The shutdown corner had 57 tackles, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries, and 3 interceptions. In his two playoff games this year, Tre'Davious has 10 tackles, including a tackle for loss, in Buffalos two wins.

With Tre'Davious White and L'Jarius Sneed facing off in the AFC Championship game, one of them will be on their way to the Super Bowl. Meaning the Shreveport area will be guaranteed to have representation in this year's Super Bowl.
