Here's what Congressman Garret Graves had to say ahead of Trump's impeachment.

Today, if you've listened to the radio, turned on the TV, or logged into any social media account, you've definitely seen or heard news coming out of the House of Representatives. For those who live under a rock, or those who choose to avoid politics altogether, the House voted to impeach Donald Trump today for 'inciting" the US Capitol riot.

With Democrats holding the majority in the house, coupled with several Republican members of Congress separating themselves from Trump, it's no surprise the House voted for impeachment. For those curious, 10 Republicans voted for impeachment. They were:

  1. Rep. Dan Newhouse of Washington
  2. Rep. John Katko of New York
  3. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler of Washington
  4. Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois
  5. Rep. Fred Upton of Michigan
  6. Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming
  7. Rep. Peter Meijer of Michigan
  8. Rep. Anthony Gonzalez of Ohio
  9. Rep. Tom Rice of South Carolina
  10. Rep. David Valadao of California

One Louisiana Republican spoke out about Trump's impeachment. Garret Graves believes Trump was in the wrong for his actions leading up to the Capitol riot, but believes his impeachment will further divide our nation. He says, "We are ripping this nation apart right now. I’m not, I’m not going to sit here and sit on the sidelines and let this happen and leave a destroyed nation to our children and grandchildren.”

Speaking of Trump, he also says, "“He has not been out there saying all of these inflammatory things. He needs to continue to keep a low profile, go do a victory tour, but do not get out there and exercise the full authority of the microphone and megaphone.”
