Speaker Johnson With Trump On Day of Alleged Attempted Murder
Late Sunday former President Donald Trump was allegedly targeted in a suspected assassination attempt in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Authorities say a man was spotted aiming the barrel of a gun through the fence at Trump International Golf Course while former President Trump was golfing. Secret Service spotted the gunman and opened fire before he attempted to flee, ultimately being arrested.
Louisiana's own Speaker of the House Mike Johnson was with Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago property on the same day as the alleged assassination attempt. Hours after the incident occurred Speaker Johnson posted a photo on X where he commented on the situation.
As of this morning, Speaker Johnson had further commented during an appearance on Fox News, elaborating that he was on his way to visit the former president when the alleged assassin was spotted and caught.
"Had [The Secret Service] not acted so quickly and so decisively we might be having a different conversation today."

Speaker Johnson says that even though Trump's life had allegedly been endangered just hours before, "He was in very good spirits," through Johnson and Trump's three-hour meeting.
During his appearance on Fox News, Speaker Johnson commends the Secret Service for their prompt action in stopping the alleged shooter and giving a summary of the events as relayed to him and President Trump by Ronald Rowe, the acting director of the Secret Service, "Those agents that were with [Trump] yesterday saw that barrel of that gun between the bushes on a golf course, I mean you know that's a difficult thing to spot and thankfully they did. But unlike in Butler they did not pause, they immediately pulled their weapons and fired."
