Louisiana is Home to 1 of 3 Towns Named After that Thanksgiving Bird
We're thinking this town probably eats a lot of turkey throughout the year.
Although it feels late, falling on November 28 this year, Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Many of us have already made our travel plans and been given our dish assignments for the big day. One thing I never sign up for is turkey. It the hardest one to get right and the one you will be ridiculed for the most if you mess it up.
You just can't have turkey day without turkey!
Speaking of which, did you know that there is a small town in Louisiana called Turkey Creek. In fact, it's so small that the Internet calls it a "village" and with a population of less than 500, I think it's fitting. You'll find Turkey Creek in Evangeline Parish in between Alexandria and Lafayette.
The National Conference of State Legislatures says it is one of just three towns that have turkey in their name. There is also a Turkey, Texas and a Turkey, North Carolina. All three boast a tiny, few-hundred-people populations.
I wonder if the entire town gets together on Thanksgiving with one very long table running through the middle of town...
