Louisiana Legislative Session Begins at Noon

Louisiana lawmakers gather in Baton Rouge to kick off a two month session to tackle the budget and dozens of other key issues.

The governor is pushing a package of bills to reform criminal justice. There are also several proposals to change the TOPS program. Tax reform and a gas tax increase are also expected to generate heated debate.

The gas tax increase could face a tough fight because many lawmakers want to make sure the additional money will be directed toward fixing our roads.

Here's the schedule for day 1.

The session must end o later than 6:00 pm on Thursday, June 8, 2017.
