Shreveport Residents Watch as Downtown Building Gets Demolished
On Friday May 3rd the Community Found Out That the Old Dripp Donuts Building at 421 Market Street Would Be Torn Down Immediately.
What was once a thriving business in Downtown Shreveport serving some of the most incredible donuts suddenly closed. When they first closed it was just a closing until everything got sorted out. Shortly after that it turned into a huge mess and it became a very controversial topic in Shreveport. Dripp Donuts announced to the community that they were forced to close its doors because there were some serious concerns over the structure of the building.
The Last Announcement From the Downtown Shreveport Development Corporation Concerning the Dripp Donuts Building Had Several in the Community Saddened.
According to the Shreveport Times, the DSDC2 reported on Friday, May 3rd, that the building would come down on Sunday May 5th.
Crews Arrived Bright and Early for the Tear Down.
Several Downtown residents woke up to the sound of heavy machinery. At first it sounded like a really bad storm was taking over downtown Shreveport. However it was the sound of a building being torn down. The crews started at 6:00 a.m. in order to limit the traffic headache.
According to Twin Blends Photography the building that once housed Dripp Donuts is a 152 year old building. Several Shreveport residents showed up to watch the building be demolished. Live streams of the event flooded Facebook, you can see some of the footage below.
