Louisiana Now Has A Tax-Free Program For The Disabled
KSLA reports that The State of Louisiana now has a program that is aimed at helping families that have disabled children pay for their extra expenses. The program is apart of a 2016 law called Achieving a better Life Experience Act - or the Louisiana ABLE Act which will greatly impact many people in our state.
The program is an account in which users will be allowed to deposit money into which is tax free to be used for programs like education, housing, transportation, employment training, health care and other items. The money deposited into the account can even earn interest.
The idea is for the ABLE accounts to save families up to $14,000 per year and still continue receiving Medicaid and Social Security benefits. This program will make the lives of these families so much more stress free and allow them to spend more time with their families.
