Watch Out Louisiana – A Massive Data Breach of Elon Musk’s X Could Leave You Exposed.
Elon Musk's social media site X.com (formerly known as Twitter) just got hit with a massive data breach. Hundreds of millions of users are now at risk, as their data might be out there. Here's how we can stay safe, Louisiana.
What Got Leaked in X's Massive Leak
A cybersecurity firm was snooping around hacker-associated websites when they discovered a 34-gigabyte file that reportedly contained over 201 million data entries, including personal information.
This is not the first time that X has suffered a data breach under Elon Musk's leadership.
Early in 2023, a massive data breach seemed to fly under the radar, which is why the hacker claims to have posted the most recent leak, nobody at X seemed to care when informed of the 2023 data leak.
The initial leak only included a little bit of data about each user, but a little bit of data from 2 billion users adds up quickly. User names, usernames, email addresses, and followers were available in the biggest breach in X's history, but nothing that threatening was leaked thankfully. Until now at least.
The latest leak was nowhere near as big as the 2023 hack, but the latest data leak includes some scary details. The newest leak included some data that was already leaked, but most importantly this leak included the location data of several users.
How Louisiana Can Stay Safe From Data Breaches
While there's no easy way to avoid having your data leaked, what you can do is protect what data gets put online. Be wary of what websites you share things like your location with, there's no promise they're data is as secure as you'd like it to be.
For extra protection services like VPNs and data removal firms. You've probably already heard a lot about VPNs in ads but if you haven't, it's just a filter to protect your online usage from unapproved eyes. Data removal firms are exactly what they sound like, services that go around searching for your data online and doing what they can to have it removed.
Stay safe Louisiana, even if we won the award for most derogatory tweets in 2016, your data could still be at risk.
