Louisiana’s Best Summer Food Is a Bayou State Staple
It just wouldn't be summer without these lil' guys.
Although we are seeing back-to-school sales and, in some places, Halloween pop-up shops, it is still very much summer. In fact, the first day of fall isn't until September 23. So let's continue to stuff ourselves with the best foods that summer has to offer.
For Louisiana, that's crawfish.
Recently, Eat This Not That created a list of the Best Summer Food in Every State. I think we can all agree that their choice of crawfish is a staple around these parts. It just wouldn't be summer without a big mudbug boil. And as an added bonus, since crawfish are a great source of protein and omega-3s, they won't spoil your swimsuit bod.
We also are the reason so many people get to enjoy crawfish in the summer. Eat This Not That says, "as of 2005, Louisiana supplies 95 percent of the crawfish harvested in the United States from aquaculture." Of course, the best place to get your fix is in our beautiful home state.
