A town thought at one time to be safe and sleepy, has once again been rocked by gunfire. A block party to honor the loss of a 3 year old boy who was killed in Minden by a gunshot was violently disrupted.
The call came in to dispatch relative to the shooting on the 9100 block of Woods Street in Minden. When Minden Police arrived on the scene, they found a female had suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. The woman was transported to the hospital where she is expected to recover.
During the investigation in to the shooting Minden Police were able to find up to 50 shell casings. If even half of the bullets fired had hit attendees, this could have been a massacre. The over 100 participants to the block party scattered for their lives, and some witnesses claim the gunfire resembled a "war zone".
Aside from the one injury, several houses and cars were struck by the gunfire.
Police are still investigating this matter, and no other details are available at this time. KEEL News will update when more information becomes available.
Detectives are asking anyone with information relative to this shooting to contact them immediately. According to Minden Police, no one was forthcoming with any information about the shooting. Those wishing to submit information anonymously can contact the Minden Police Department at 318-371-4226 or via their app, P3Tips.
