In the wake of the tragic shooting claiming the lives of 17 February 14, 2018 in the Parkland, FL school shooting and just months after 58 people died and upwards of 800 were injured in the Las Vegas shooting, national retailer Dick's Sporting Goods has announced they will no longer sell assault-style rifles. 

According to the New York Times, Dick's Sporting Goods will also stop selling high-capacity magazines and despite local laws, they won't sell any firearm to anyone under 21-years-old.

Edward Stack, CEO of Dick's Sporting Goods, whose father founded the store in 1948, says this decision is in direct response to the Parkland shooting. The Parkland school shooter purchased a shotgun at one of the company's stores in November, although the firearm was not used in the Parkland attack.

USA Today reports that in 2012, Dick's stopped selling assault weapons after the Newtown school shooting, but continued to sell them through their Field & Stream locations which specialize in hunting gear.
