Experts predicted that the 2020 Presidential Election would be an election breaking cycle when it comes to voter turn out. If early voting is an indication, the experts may be right.

According to the Secretary of State's Office, Louisiana nearly doubled it's record for early voter turnout. The 2016 Presidential Election set the previous record with 531,555 early votes cast. This year, nearly one million Louisianans has cast their votes early.

The polls for early voting closed yesterday evening at 7 pm and according to the latest numbers publish by the Secretary of State, 964,181 voters have cast their ballots for the upcoming election.

Locally, we saw a large number of people waiting in line at the polls. In Caddo Parish, 28,557 people cast their ballots early. Bossier was close behind with 21,139. While I don't have the numbers for Bossier from 2016, comparatively, Caddo only cast 12,077 early votes in the record setting 2016 Presidential election.

If you didn't get a chance to cast an early vote, your last chance to participate in the process will be Election Day. Polls will be open from 6 am to 8 pm November 3rd. If you don't know your precinct, you can find that information here on the Secretary of State website.
