Nick Lachey + Vanessa Minnillo Expecting First Child

While his ex-wife Jessica Simpson may have beat him to the punch, since she is due with her first child in the very near future judging from photos of her massive baby bump, ex-98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey and his wife Vanessa Minnillo (now known as Vanessa Lachey) confirmed that they are expecting their first child. Congrats to the Lacheys, who wed in July of 2011.

The baby is due in late summer or early fall. Too band the infant isn’t due later, which means he or she can’t possibly be born on Nov. 9, since that is Nick and Vanessa’s shared birthday!

According to PEOPLE, Lachey, 38, revealed the news this morning (March 5) on ‘Live With Kelly,’ which he co-hosted. “I’ve had a chance to do a lot of great things in my career and my life but this is the one thing that, more than any other, I look forward to,” he gushed. “The fact that it’s actually here, it’s overwhelming.”

He also revealed that when he is wife, 31, appeared on the same show back in January, she began to “feel a little different, not herself.” That prompted her to pick up an at-home pregnancy kit, which came back positive.

The Lacheys plan to take advantage of breakthroughs in medical science and learn the sex of the baby in advance. “We definitely want to know,” the dad-to-be told Kelly Ripa. “I can’t take the knowledge that someone out there knows, but I don’t know. It’s like watching a sports game on TiVo.”
