Lots of people were upset that they didn't get to attend the State Fair of Texas this year due to COVID-19. However, during the months of September and October, you can still get to enjoy at least one part of state fair tradition.

The State Fair of Texas has now introduced the Big Tex Fair Food Drive-Thru. And yes, it's exactly what it sounds like. You pay money for tickets that allow you to drive through and get some of your favorite fair snacks. And, not only do you get the food items, but you also get a picture with the famous Big Tex.

According to the State Fair of Texas website, there are a couple of options to choose from.

Option A costs $65 and will feed one to two people. In addition to admission of one vehicle (up to eight people), guests will receive food from the well-known vendors. They will receive two drinks, two Corny Dogs, french fries, fried Oreos, cotton candy, kettle corn, and a midway prize.

Option B costs $99 dollars and will feed three to four people. The same admission requirements still apply - one vehicle, up to eight occupants - but guests get double the amount of food items.

The dates for this drive-thru are listed below:

  • Weekend of September 25th
  • Weekend of October 2nd
  • Weekend of October 9th (Saturday, October 10th not available due to AT&T Red River Showdown)
  • Weekend of October 15th

And, if you're not looking for the full, fair food experience, you can purchase tickets to just go get a photo with Big Tex on either September 19th or September 20th. That option costs $25.

So, even though we couldn't have the full State Fair of Texas experience, we can still at least get a "taste" of the state fair. More info can be found at BigTex.com/DriveThru, or on the State Fair of Texas Facebook page.
