Today, news broke that one of our favorite steakhouses in town will be closing their doors on May 6th.

David Alvis, owner of Silver Star Steakhouse and probably anything with the words Silver Star in front of it, decided to close the popular restaurant due to competition... With himself.

His very popular Silver Star Smokehouse is located just five miles down the road and he feels the two restaurants compete with one another.

Their is good news for both Alvis and all of us in town who enjoy great food. The first bit of good news is that Alvis plans to open the all-new Silver Star Grille in Shreveport on June 1st. The new joint will be located in the Camp Forbing Marketplace at the corner of Ellerbe Road and Flournoy Lucas.

The second is that the location previously occupied by Silver Star Steakhouse won't be empty long. Schlotzsky's will be returning to the Ark-La-Tex and taking over the Bossier City location. The building itself was actually a Schlotzsky's once before, then converted into Silver Star Steakhouse.

Renovations to make it Schlotzsky's once again will begin a few days after Silver Star Steakhouse closes.

A little bit of more good news, for Schlotzsky's lovers in town. It looks like once the Bossier City location gets up and running, Alvis, who has a Schlotzsky's franchise agreement, will begin scouting to find a Shreveport location.
