I think we call all agree that this weather has been insane and we hope you stay safe, happy, healthy, and warm! Enjoy these fantastic listener-submitted pictures from day one of the great 'snowpocalypse' of 2021! Be careful, round two of winter weather is supposed to hit tonight!

So far, we've been able to avoid mass power outages so make sure to decrease your energy consumption so SWEPCO isn't forced to do planned outages like that had to start doing in our area this morning around 7 am. Here are some easy tips to help conserve energy thanks to the Bowie-Cass Electric Cooperative Facebook page:

  • Turn thermostats to 68-degrees or below.

  • Turn off and unplug all non-essential electric appliances.

  • Avoid using any large appliances like washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, etc.

  • Large electricity consumers should consider shutting down or reducing non-essential production processes.

  • If you do have an outage, please turn off the HVAC unit. This will help reduce high load as we try to restore. We know you want to get heat as soon as possible, but we are asking members to leave their heaters off for at least 20 minutes after power is restored.
