Blues and BBQ? See Why This New LSUS Festival Is Made for You
Get ready, Shreveport, a brand-new festival tailor-made for anyone who loves soulful sounds and delicious comfort food is about to take over. The Chicken & Blues Festival is dedicated to celebrating the rich culture and vibrant community spirit right here in our region.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 4th, 2025, at LSUS, where the party runs from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. All day long, live music will fill the air alongside the incredible aroma of the best chicken made by local chefs and food trucks from all over the community.
"Our whole purpose is simple: to bring people together through the universal joys of music, food, and fellowship, creating an unforgettable experience that honors tradition and local talent."
An American Idol Winner Will Take the Stage
The music lineup alone is worth the price of admission. Headlining the festival is Jamal Roberts, the sensational gospel-soul singer and Season 23 winner of American Idol.
But the local talent is equally massive, with tribute shows you won't want to miss: Ladies Night will honor Etta James, Tipsey will deliver a special tribute to Johnny Taylor, Sweet Nay will salute Shirley Brown, and Timera Clark will celebrate Betty Wright & Denise LaSalle.
The festival will also take a moment to honor local leaders with a Community Icon Awards, recognizing Foster Campbell, Chef Niema DiGrazia, and Ronald “Uncle Ron” Johnson. Don't miss out on this day of incredible flavor and rhythm. Get your tickets by clicking here.
