Before we get into what metrics the WalletHub.com experts used in their findings, let's find out where cities in our region ended up. Out of 182 cities across the country, Dallas, TX, is the best in our area for singles ranking 77th followed by New Orleans, LA at 99th, Baton Rouge, LA at 102nd, Little Rock at 146th, and finally Shreveport at 172. Yikes!

Did you know that nearly 50% of adults in the U.S. are single? With that in mind, you would think that it would be easier to find love, right? Especially since so many of us are so ready to find someone now that restrictions aren't as tight anymore with regard to the pandemic... So what did they base these findings on? They looked at the percentage of the population that was single in each city, to online dating opportunities to the average price for a meal for two. Other key metrics were the balance of single men vs. women, the average cost of beer/wine, the cost of going out to see a movie, the median price for renting a single bedroom apartment, and the average cost of going to a beauty salon.

According to Wallethub.com, Shreveport ranks 67th in the country for 2021 when it comes to economics, 172nd when it comes to fun and recreation, and 167th for dating opportunities.

While I can't speak to all of the above, I am single.  I personally think that rents are high in our area and that that's due to being the home of Barksdale Air Force Base. However, I've been a homeowner since 2006, so it's been a while since I've signed a lease. I have used online dating services locally and as many will tell you, no matter which app you're on, you'll see the same faces over and over. On the flip side, we have some great restaurants and watering holes so that has to count for something, right?
