The sun is setting on a beloved local institution, and I'm sure for a lot of us, it's hitting a little bit hard. For a quarter-century, DixieMaze Farms has been a treasured fall destination in Shreveport-Bossier. I can almost guarantee you have a family photo or two from a hayride, the pumpkin patch, or maybe a quick stop by the corn cannons.

Truly, for so many of us, no fall holiday celebration feels complete without that memorable family visit to the farm. But unfortunately, the team at DixieMaze has announced that they are closing their doors for good after this season as the owners prepare to retire and move on to a new chapter in their lives.

In a heartfelt message shared on their Facebook page, the owners explained that this fall will be the last season for the farm. They reflected on how much it has meant to them to see so many families create memories on their farm over the years, whether it was on a school field trip or just a fun afternoon together. The post went on to say that the farm was always more than just an event; it was "a celebration of community, laughter, and the joy of togetherness."

In an effort to celebrate all the years of fun, DixieMaze is asking group leaders from the area—whether from a school, a youth group, or a large family—to book their last visit soon and take advantage of some deep discounts. It’s a final opportunity to make some unforgettable memories before they close for good.

This is a sad moment for so many of us in the community, but it's also a chance to celebrate the owners and thank them for 25 years of fall memories.

DixieMaze is located at 9596 Sentell Rd, Shreveport, LA.
