The Newest Way for Shreveport Dads to Make a Difference Is Here
We've all heard the stories about fathers in different cities coming together to help keep schools and communities safer just by being present, and we love seeing a united group of dads making a difference, right? Well, now there's a chance we could get a local chapter of that movement right here in Shreveport.
Volunteers for Youth Justice, in collaboration with a Baton Rouge nonprofit organization called F.O.A.M., or Fathers On A Mission, is holding an informational meeting to see if we can get a chapter started in our community. F.O.A.M. is all about giving fathers and father figures the tools they need to strengthen their families. They do this by focusing on four key things: education, building strong relationships, holistic health, and opportunities for socioeconomic improvement.
F.O.A.M.'s initiatives include things like weekly fatherhood classes, father-child bonding events, and monthly workshops. The organization has already impacted over 250 fathers and is guided by a focus on personal growth and community responsibility. The hope is that with enough support at this meeting, we can bring these incredible resources to men in the Ark-La-Tex as well.
This is a great chance for anyone who wants to help strengthen families in our community. The event is open to all fathers, father figures, community leaders, and residents.
The event will take place on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Bilberry Park, located at 1902 Alabama Avenue, Shreveport, LA. If you're interested in attending, you can register through the official website.
