Shreveport Gas Prices Will Be the Highest on Memorial Day Weekend
The U.S. Energy Information Administration put out some news that has many Memorial Day weekend travelers shaking their heads. Gas is the highest gas has been since 2014. You want me to pay how much for gas this weekend? Who is to blame? The Colonial Pipeline? Well, kind of.
According to AAA, we are still seeing the effects of the Colonial Pipeline ransomware attack. We have been told that all operations and deliveries are in progress, this should have made everything smooth sailing right? we are still seeing home hold-ups all throughout the southeast.
The AAA Newsroom said "some stations in the southeast continue to experience supply strain. This is likely to extend into the holiday weekend, but motorists will be able to fill-up." On average will be paying about a dollar more per gallon this Memorial Day weekend. Yikes, that will add up fast at the pump.
Will high gas prices deter Shreveport-Bossier residents from traveling? It doesn't look like it. According to Jeanette McGee, an AAA spokesperson “AAA expects 37 million Americans to travel, mostly by car and plane, for the Memorial Day holiday weekend. That is a 60% increase over last year’s holiday and a strong indication that summer travel is going to be largely popular,”.
I guess after a pandemic you just can't keep Americans at home. If you plan to travel this Memorial Day weekend, make sure you anticipate the big price increase.
