If you've read the headlines, you'd know that pickleball is picking up a big audience in the 318. Shreveport is currently pushing through a plan to build a $10 million 19-court pickleball complex in the city, and across the river in Bossier City, the Louisiana Boardwalk is inviting The Picklr to build a 10-court club. With pickleball clearly now an established sport across the nation, which city will serve the 318 better?

The Picklr is currently being heralded as the saving grace for the Louisiana Boardwalk. Bossier City's riverside shopping center told the city that by building an indoor 10-court  pickleball club, the shopping center will see a revival. It's a good bet for the Boardwalk if the growing pickleball community of the 318 turns up in droves.

One of the most appealing factors that should catch all pickleball players down south, it's all indoors. No annoying humidity, rained-out days, or annoying bugs can get you inside The Picklr.

Though a drawback for many people might be the fact that The Picklr isn't a public park, it's a club. To play on one of The Picklr's courts, you'll need to fork up some cash, which might turn away some newer or interested players.

It needs to be said that at this point, the Shreveport pickleball complex is still up in the air, so the Caddo Parish Commission might not carry through in the end. The proposal for Shreveport would invest $10 million into building one of the largest pickleball complexes in Northern Louisiana.

A full 19 courts would give ample space to the pickleball playing public of the SBC, and create a space for pickleball events and tournaments to have a professional-style court. Assuming the park will be open to the public, the community will be given a space to learn and play the sport without paying anything (other than their taxes).

There's also a major economic factor to Shreveport's proposal. If a fully furnished pickleball court were in the city, major regional tournaments could utilize the courts and bring big events with plenty of cash for the local economy.
