This Shreveport local put medical-grade skincare, lasers, and injectables to the test!

Do skincare products and procedures like medical-grade skincare products, laser treatments, Botox, and Juvederm really work?

The short answer is yes! I put all of the above to the test thanks to the fine folks at Dermatology and Skin Surgery on Ellerbe Road in Shreveport, LA. I started out the first week solely by changing my skincare routine. I'll be honest, I was a Witch Hazel and yellow Clinique moisturizer girl when I even bothered with skincare up until now. I tried the SkinMedica line of products with the Revision Skincare Intellishade TruPhysical 45SPF tinted moisturizer. One thing that Katie really emphasized is that living in Louisiana, you really need to use sunscreen everyday... with a minimal SPF of 45.

In the week I just changed up my skincare, I quickly noticed that trouble areas were starting to heal and that my skin was smoother. I had one friend tell me my cheek felt like a baby's bottom!

The next week, on October 10th, I went into Dermatology and Skin Surgery where they performed several procedures. First up, they used the PicoSure laser on me. It uses Skin Cell Activation technology to help with acne scars, pigmentation, and sun damage. And boy, did I have some sun damage! It also helps to eliminate fine lines and wrinkles, as well as age spots. Cari was my practitioner and she talked with me and told me about the procedure every step of the way to make sure all of my questions were answered and so I wouldn't get too nervous. After all, it IS a laser! However, I'm going to tell you, any nervousness was worth it. I have spots that I've had for years that I hate that are now almost faded to nothing. Cari, you are a Godsend!

Next, I went to 'May May' and Hayden for my injectables. These two are an incredible team. After asking for what I was after, which was definitely a more natural look, they got to work. The placement of Botox is important because it can help to arch your eyebrows creating a more open look, (I have slightly hooded eyes) in addition to easing the appearance of wrinkles around your eyes and the dreaded 'eleven' in between your eyes from concentrating too much. I also asked them to help with my forehead wrinkles which are now greatly diminished. It's important to note that I asked for them not to let my wrinkles go away altogether... which they could totally make them do. I still wanted to be able to make faces at my morning show partner, Gary! May May is so darn good, she did exactly what I asked for and I couldn't be happier.

Then it was time for the filler. I've never had filler in my lips before. After asking about my preferences, Hayden chose Juvederm Volbella XC for me and only used about half of a syringe. I am totally IN LOVE with the results. He choose the Volbella because it delivers the softest results.

I honestly didn't think that I'd 'love' all of my results, but I can say that I honestly do. Sure, we're all our own worst critics, but I can see a dramatic difference in the quality and texture of my skin. Don't believe me? Take a look! This is Bristol getting her groove back!
