Shreveport Mental Health Study Eyes Drugs Like LSD as a Treatment
A well-respected research firm has selected Shreveport as the sight of their latest test on the effectiveness of non-traditional forms of treatment for mental health. It makes sense that Benchmark Research has selected our city as ground zero for their study, as we have some of the finest medical facilities in the world within the confines of the Shreveport-Bossier City area.
What the folks at Benchmark are studying specifically is the effectiveness of psychedelic drugs like LSD as a treatment on various mental health conditions. According to PRWEB, the company's Shreveport location houses a full time dedicated psychiatric clinical research facility that has been conducting psychiatric studies for more than a decade. The latest study will introduce non-traditional drugs like cannabis, LSD, Psilocybin, Ketamine, MDMA to the treatment regimen to asses their viability.
According to the press release, the clinic is already enrolling patients who suffer from "Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, and Depression," and will soon start a Generalized Anxiety Disorder utilizing LSD.
The project will also bring some exciting new jobs for Shreveport. According to the report, Benchmark Shreveport will need to hire several Clinical Research Coordinators and assistants in order to conduct the study. These positions will need to be filled in the next 2 months, but will reportedly pay between $45,000 - $62,000 a year plus benefits.
