I am forever in search of delicious eats around Shreveport-Bossier, especially those incredible hole-in-the-wall spots. Our metroplex is perfectly dotted with hidden gems, and one thing is for sure: we have some epic food that constantly introduces us to new dishes. I just found my new favorite!

Mansfield Road Holds the Key to Authentic Flavor

That key is Taqueria Mi Palmar, an authentic Mexican taqueria and tienda located right in Southwest Shreveport. This tiny hidden gem is serious about flavor.

House specialties include tacos al carbon, pupusas, sopes, and more. With only about 10 tables total, the place fills up quickly, so be ready. What I loved most? The prices. Nothing beats an incredible hidden gem that’s also super affordable.

Forget Everything Else: The Gorditas are Perfection

Okay, I love a good sope, so I definitely ordered one, and it was incredible. However, everyone kept telling me I needed to be there for one thing and one thing only: the gorditas. While the birria tacos were clearly the most ordered item in the room, the moment I bit into the gordita, I was totally sold.

This eatery needs to be celebrated for perfecting the gordita. It’s basically a very thick tortilla split in half, filled with beans, meat (your choice), and topped with Mexican cabbage. Of course, you get to pick your perfect salsa to top it all off.

If you want to try the best gorditas in town, drop in at 2847 Summer Grove Dr in Shreveport, but be warned: you might have to eat it in your car. This spot seems to be the go-to lunch destination for every blue-collar worker near Mansfield.
