Simon Pegg and Nick Frost Are Working on Their First TV Series Since ‘Spaced’
Spaced and the “Cornetto Trilogy” may be behind us, but there’s a chance Nick Frost and Simon Pegg might reunite on the small screen. The two have formed a new Sony-backed production studio, and will take aim at a joint TV venture with a horror-comedy bent.
Variety reports that where last year saw Pegg and Frost launching Stolen Picture, the two have now formed plans for the company’s first TV series, Truth Seekers. The show is described as a half-hour horror comedy following a three-person team of paranormal investigators, with installments set to “focus on a paranormal incident, a setup with clear monster-of-the-week potential.” Said Pegg of the project:
Each episode is going to be an adventure, a potential haunting or something. It’ll start as a very parochial idea, a very small business venture for these people, but it will expand as the series goes on to be something far more global. It’s a language everyone understands, the mystery of the unknown. ‘Shaun of the Dead’ was a very parochial story set in North London and somehow it managed to get this global reach because everyone understands the language of zombie movies.
Pegg and Frost’s Stolen Picture is backed by Sony Pictures Television, and already marketing Truth Seekers to find a home. It remains to be seen if either Pegg or Frost would appear in any capacity, but stay tuned for the latest updates.
