SleepOut 4 Independence at Independence Stadium
SleepOut 4 Independence is a community event that The Providence House puts on to bring awareness and much-needed support to homeless families with children in the Shreveport area. The Providence House is a "residential treatment facility for homeless families with children, providing comprehensive support services for improving the family structure."
If you have ever wanted to help make a difference and help our homeless community in Shreveport you can gather up some friends and family and camp out for a night. We all invade Independence Stadium, and teams challenge each other to build their own shelter for the night. It sounds easy but it is extremely challenging.
The whole time teams and individuals are building shelters, there are several other contests, photo ops, fundraising, and even a concert by one of Shreveport's former American Idol contestants.
"Independence Stadium to become educated on homelessness in your community and see what you can do to help break the cycle." To sign up to be apart of the SleepOut 4 Independence just click here.
"Sleeping in a “box shelter,” hearing and seeing stories of homeless families who have made the move to independence and permanent housing, and sharing each otherʼs experiences will bring this ministry up close and personal for our youth. With their help, the Shreveport-Bossier community can indeed become a place where no family is homeless."
