Smithsonian’s Museum Day Live Gets You Into 15 Louisiana Museums For Free!
This Saturday is a great day for museum lovers all over the United States! The Smithsonian magazine is hosting an event called Museum Day Live, and they are giving you free tickets to around 1,200 museums around the country. 15 of those are in Louisiana, and they represent some of the coolest day trips in the state. I am sad to report, however, that none of these are in the Shreveport / Bossier City Area.
The closest museum that is participating in the nationwide campaign is about 2 hours away. The Alexandria Museum of Art will be showcasing their latest exhibit - Tierce: Artists of Louisiana Francophone Cultures this weekend, and they would love for you to check out some of the finest art that truly represents the culture of the Bayou State for free through this program. At roughly 4 hours away, Baton Rouge houses 2 participating locations, the LSU Museum of Art (Geaux Tigers) and the West Baton Rouge Museum.
If you are willing to put in a much longer drive time, here's the full list of participating Louisiana Museums:
New Orleans
Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium
Longue Vue House and Gardens
New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum
New Orleans Museum of Art
Ogden Museum of Art
Southern Food and Beverage Museum and The Museum of the American Cocktail (New Orleans)
