Southern University Holding Marijuana Job Fair on Monday
The news that medical marijuana was now legal for medicinal uses in 2015 came as quite a shock to a lot of people. So much so, it would take years before the way Louisiana citizens diagnosed with one of the conditions that could be legally treated with cannabis-based medicines would be agreed upon and implemented.
For close to 4 years, the entire process was the very epitome of the right hand not knowing what the left hand was doing. Everything from the way physicians would "suggest" that their patients could use the drugs, how they were grown and manufactured, to the way that they would be distributed was in array.
Now that has been settled, the growers and distrubutors officially certified, and the dispensaries are dispensing - the Bayou State has found itself the proud owner of a brand-new, multi-million dollar industry. The next step is to funnel waiting and willing workers into a ton of newly-formed jobs.
To that end, Southern University is looking to fill open positions in its agricultural department. As one of the two officially sanctioned growers in the state, SU has seen huge growth and knows it's only the beginning. The Baton Rouge university is holding a job fair Monday, October 21st to screen candidates to hire for several openings including: Technician, sales representative, packing, trimming, and more.
On-site interviews will be held from 4-7pm at the Ag Center’s M.A. Edmond Livestock Arena's Multipurpose Building. Click here to learn more.
