Join Southfield School for their Pie Run this Saturday, November 10th sponsored by Strawn's Eat Shops. Just mention pie and I'm there!

Two of Shreveport’s most time-honored establishments will join together to hold The Pie Run 5K, 10K and Fun Run on Saturday, Nov. 10. Southfield School, an independent school serving the Shreveport community since 1934, and
Strawn’s Eat Shops, a local restaurant dishing up its famous pies since 1944, call all runners, walkers and “pie enthusiasts” to “run for their pie.” At the finish line, all participants will receive a piece of Strawn’s pie, which has been featured in Southern Living Magazine and on the Food Network.
Pie Run Coordinator Jenny Johnston said “the rewards will be even sweeter this year,” with cash prizes offered to overall male and female winners in both the 5K and 10K races. Prizes will also be awarded to overall age group finishers.
“This is a really family-friendly race, with tons of activities for children, in addition to the half-mile Fun Run,” Johnston said. Spacewalks, face painting, pie-eating contests, a pie toss and music are just a few of the activities families can enjoy at the event. The Pie Run is in its second year, with more than 700 participants running and walking in the 2011 race.
The race starts and ends at Southfield School, 1100 Southfield Road in Shreveport, taking participants through the South Highlands neighborhood. The Fun Run starts at 7:45 a.m., with the 5K/10K starting at 8 a.m. The registration fee is $25 through Nov. 7 and includes a shirt. After that date through race day, the fee is $30.
