Saddle Up! It’s Time For the Springhill PRCA Rodeo
This is the weekend that cowboys and cowgirls from all over the Arklatex have had on their minds for months.
It's the Springhill PRCA Rodeo at the Springhill Rodeo Arena.
And if you think they really know how to put on a rodeo in Springhill, you would be right. It's the oldest continuously running rodeo in the whole state of Louisiana!
Activities actually began early this week with team roping and barrel racing. On Wednesday, they even held the Little Cowpoke and Little Miss Cowgirl contests.
Last night, Thursday, September 22, was the first night of the actual rodeo with all the action taking place after the Annual Rodeo Parade through Springhill. Since this event is sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, it always brings out the best cowboys and livestock and that action continues both tonight (Friday) and Saturday.
Events For Friday, September 23
Tonight, the Kids Rodeo will kick things off at 6:30pm. There's a full slate of fun activities for kids of all ages like roping a dummy, riding a horse, riding in a wagon and plenty of treats! Then the second night of rodeo action will kick off at 7:45 pm.
Events For Saturday, September 24
Entrants in the Springhill Rodeo Queen contest will be interviewed and tested at the Springhill Library at 9:30 am. Then, at 6:00 pm, the Queen and Princess will be crowned at the arena. At 7:45 pm, the final night of the rodeo action will get underway.
Of course they'll have lots of concessions available both nights with all the laughter of some of the best rodeo clowns in the business.
