Some comic book characters are easier to adapt than others. Superman, for instance, may have hundreds of writers and artists to his name, but the core principles of his character remain the same: he’s powerful, he’s kind, and he’s an idealist in a universe that doesn’t often reward characters for putting their faith in other people. Even when someone like Frank Miller wants to give the character a modern spin, it’s done by exaggerating these core principles, not setting them aside entirely.

When is a superhero movie like Game of Thrones? When it’s the most pirated movie of the year, of course. On a new list of all the movies downloaded from popular torrenting site BitTorrent, the merc with a mouth tops the chart over Batman v. Superman, Captain America: Civil War, and The Force Awakens.

Ryan Reynolds’ wish for a proper Deadpool and Wolverine crossover movie may never come true, but the actor has apparently achieved something pretty close with a small cameo in Logan. With all due respect to the major acting and directing categories, I’ve come to really appreciate the Academy Awards’ technical categories in recent years. Whereas the performances and movies at the top of the program are often culled from a predictable pool of art films and auteur projects, the VFX Oscars tend to be a bit more egalitarian in nature, honoring whatever movies are the most impressive regardless of overall quality. This is often how populist film genres not typically noticed by the Academy  —  action, science-fiction, fantasy  —  slip into Oscar contention.

Just because it was successful doesn't mean it wasn't flawed. In fact, one website tallied up the mistakes, and it looks like Deadpool was the most flawed of the year.

The animated family film Zootopia booted Deadpool from the box office top spot this weekend with an estimated $73.7 million in its first week, the biggest-ever opening week for a Disney film.

Deadpool topped the box office charts for a third straight week with an estimated $31.5 million, while Gods of Egypt bombed in second place with a measly $14 million.

Deadpool held on to the top spot at the box office for the second week in a row with $55 million, bringing its worldwide total to $235.3 million.

Deadpool shot to the top of this weekend's box office with an estimated $135 million, breaking the February record set by Fifty Shades of Grey which took in $85.1 million last year, and the biggest opening for an R-rated film since The Matrix Reloaded, which debuted with $91.7 million.
