Humble brag... It's me baby!

Finally, after years of dedication to the craft, I came out on top.

Today should be a city-wide Holiday. The first day of Mudbug Madness is a glorious day, second to only Christmas. Mudbugs have taken over the community, which is fitting, because our Shreveport Mudbugs just became NAHL champs a little over a week ago.

Mudbug Madness is a festival unlike any other in downtown Shreveport, and I love being a part of the kick-off show.

For the past several years, I've found myself on the stage during the kick-off event, competing in the celebrity crawfish eating contest. In the beginning, I was always dead-last. Competing against Crawfish rippin' legends like Chris 'The Kissing Bandit' Evans, I didn't expect to finish near the top of the pack. After years of last-place finishes, I turned it up a notch. Working countless hours on my peel and eat technique, hoping one day I could get a taste of that spicy goodness.

My hard work payed off, but still didn't get me that brass ring. I finished 2nd place, then 3rd place in back-to-back years.

This year, I was down. I felt as if I was past my rippin' tails prime, and was now on the back-half of my competition career.

As this year's event approached, I knew I wasn't ready to compete. My mind wasn't in it, my fingers weren't ready to take the toll.

That was until the day before the event. Something lit inside of me, boiling me up like 30 lbs. of crawfish in the pot on a summer day. I knew I had to give it one more run.

I did. And I came out on top.

A true rags-to-rippin' story, made for cinema.

God bless you all, and God bless Mudbug Madness.
