Living in Shreveport, maybe we have just grown accustomed to these beautiful beasts in our skies.

I've lived here in Shreveport-Bossier for 28 years. I don't know why it took me so long to write this article, and maybe I'm just bored amid my COVID-19 lockdown. Bored or not, it's time we all come together and show some love for the B-52 Stratofortress.

Today, like many times in the past, I was outside with my daughters when far in the distance, we hear a loud rumbling quickly approaching. My daughters always run outside when they hear an approaching B-52, and they always give a wave to the pilot high in the sky. Today, they cheered with excitement as we received our own B-52 flyover, with two flying past over the course of several minutes.

They cheered as always and just taking in the sights and the sounds really hit me today, for whatever reason.

I don't know if it's due to the fact that some days, especially these days in a seemingly never-ending pandemic, it's easy to lose hope. It's certainly easy to get depressed during these uncertain times.

Today, just when I needed it most, I was reminded of one of the many reasons we are lucky to be in Shreveport-Bossier, lucky to live in America and damn lucky to have the most beautiful, bad-ass plane on the planet flying above our neighborhoods.
