Living in Shreveport, maybe we have just grown accustomed to these beautiful beasts in our skies.

I've lived here in Shreveport-Bossier for 28 years. I don't know why it took me so long to write this article, and maybe I'm just bored amid my COVID-19 lockdown. Bored or not, it's time we all come together and show some love for the B-52 Stratofortress.

Today, like many times in the past, I was outside with my daughters when far in the distance, we hear a loud rumbling quickly approaching. My daughters always run outside when they hear an approaching B-52, and they always give a wave to the pilot high in the sky. Today, they cheered with excitement as we received our own B-52 flyover, with two flying past over the course of several minutes.

They cheered as always and just taking in the sights and the sounds really hit me today, for whatever reason.

I don't know if it's due to the fact that some days, especially while on lockdown, it's easy to lose hope. It's certainly easy to get depressed during these uncertain times.

Today, just when I needed it most, I was reminded of one of the many reasons we are lucky to be in Shreveport-Bossier, lucky to live in America, and damn lucky to have the most beautiful, bad-ass plane on the planet flying above our neighborhoods.
