The SBC Gets a Taste of Food Network’s ‘Food Court Wars’
For Shreveport-Bossier City, Food Network has a new feature. It's called "taste-o-vision." Food Network inhabited The SBC last week to film an episode of the show, Food Court Wars.
The show, in its second season, features two restaurant business owners looking to open their own food court location in a local mall. The winner receives the location free of rent for an entire year, enabling them to get their business off the ground.
Food Court Wars is hosted by Tyler Florence, a restauranteur, who has his own cooking show on the network called "Tyler's Ultimate." Florence also hosts the reality-competition show, "The Great Food Truck Race."
Three days of filming was capped off by an open tasting for both of the competing restaurants on Saturday.
Guests were told to arrive at Pierre Bossier Mall at 5 p.m. to avoid long lines. By 4:45 p.m., the line was already daunting, with even more people in the mall asking where to go for the show. Groups of 20 were herded across to the food court where the assistant director explained the process.
Then it was time to grub!
Patrons were encouraged to try dishes from both restaurants. A select few were interviewed on camera about their experiences. An even luckier few were actually interviewed by Florence. Not nerve-wracking at all, right?
Guests could also fill out a comments card with both positive and negative feedback. On this card they were asked to rate the restaurant from one to five.
Both restaurants put their best "food" forward and nary a disappointed face was to be found. This battle is going to be a nail-biter!
