It's that time of year! The kids are back in school!

Mom's emotions are like the scariest roller coaster that you could ever ride at Six Flags.

One minute she's excited to finally have a little time of her own, and the next she's sobbing her eyes out because little Cody has flown the coop and is a now a kindergartner.

Well, they've put a wrap on the first day back to school in DeSoto Parish. The kids all returned to campus a couple days ago on Wednesday, August 4.

The new shoes and uniforms are probably already sporting a couple of stains.

The loose leaf notebook paper and the composition books don't quite smell new anymore.

Some of the kids have already discovered their new little circle of friends!

We asked Moms and Dads all over DeSoto Parish to send us pictures of their kids first day back and we got some really good ones.

Just take a look!

LOOK: See America's 50 Best Beach Towns

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.
