Forecasters with the National Hurricane Center are monitoring an area of disturbed weather in the northwest Caribbean Sea this morning. The area of concern is located just south of the western tip of Cuba and just to the east of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula.

Currently, forecasters are giving this system a minimal chance of strengthening over the next two days. However, the track of the system should take it into the southwestern Gulf of Mexico by early next week. The potential for development in the Gulf is only slightly better. As of this morning forecasters only give the system a 20% probability of becoming a tropical cyclone before next Monday.

Most of the forecast models are suggesting that the system, should it develop will be kept well south of the northern Gulf coast by a frontal system that is expected to push through South Louisiana during the day on Monday.

The frontal system should not only bring cooler weather but act as a barrier for any tropical threats for our part of the world for at least for the next few days.
