Two Drag Racing Cars Lose Their Body Mid-Race, Both Drivers Survive Unharmed [VIDEO]

They call these vehicles "funny cars", but there's nothing funny about this.

During a drag racing event in Florida, the unthinkable happened, and I highly doubt you'll see something like this again in your lifetime.

The Amalie Motor Oil Gatornationals took place in Gainesville, Florida over the weekend, and one race in particular has gone viral for all the wrong reasons. You never like to see wrecks and/or accidents during a motorcar race, certainly not anything as frightening as what happened to these two funny car racers.

Near the beginning of the race, shortly after both cars hammered it simultaneously, both car's bodies completely ripped off. Shredded in a blaze of fire, quicker than you can say "funny cars".

It's one of the strangest, most unique things you'll ever see.

Thankfully, both drivers not only survived, but walked away completely unharmed. Also, none of the flying, burning debris hit any bystanders on it's way down.
