Everyone in the state of Louisiana knows that Mardi Gras doesn't only happen in New Orleans. Duh. That might be hard to grasp for people outside the state, or the country, but we know the truth. Some of the most unique and festive celebrations are happening this Mardi Gras season, and Only in Louisiana wants you to join the celebrations!

  • Krewe of Barkus / Meoux Mardi Paw Parade - Shreveport/Bossier City. February 24th. Obviously we love to see our pets dressed up for Carnival season!
  • Spanish Town Parade - Baton Rouge. March 2. Not sure why our state capital has less parades than other parts of Louisiana,, but this one is wild and very festive. Known for the pink flamingos that line the parade route.
  • Krewe of Carnivale en Rio - Lafayette. February 23  The colorful floats, dancers and revelers on the spectacular floats make this a must see parade in Acadiana. Taking their cue from the wild Carnival celebrations in Rio de Janeiro makes catching one of the customary maracas throws definitely worth the effort!
  • Courir de Mardi Gras - rural Acadiana. March 2 & 3 These traditional observances of the holiday include festivities in Mamou, Eunice, and Church Point. Completely different from city parades, these incorporate riding on horses from door to door collecting chickens for a community gumbo. Fascinating and so much fun!
  • Mardi Gras Lighted Boat Parade - Lake Charles. February 28. All the sparkle and all the dazzle along the lakefront promenade in Lake Charles makes this one of the most beautiful night time celebrations of the season.
