Walmart will be staying open later at most stores beginning on Monday, August 17, according to a statement released by the company.

The Bentonville, Arkansas-based retail giant announced that closing time will be moved from 8:30 pm to 10:00 pm beginning on Monday.

The change will affect more than 4,000 of the Walmart stores across the country, the company said in a news release on Friday.

"With this change, we will continue the health and safety measures currently in place, such as social distancing, health screenings, plastic barriers at the registers and masks," Walmart said in its statement.

The company also announced that it would hold a senior shopping hour on Tuesdays for customers 60 years and older. That will happen one hour before the store officially opens. Pharmacies and vision centers will also open at that time.
