If you are a last minute shopper for Thanksgiving or Black Friday shopper it may look a little different if you are planning to shop at Walmart or Sam's Club as the company announced they will be closed on Thanksgiving.

With the holiday being less than 130 days away John Furner, President and CEO of Walmart made the announcement in a press release that he will be closing all Walmart locations to reward their employees for stepping up during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We know this has been a trying year, and our associates have stepped up. We hope they will enjoy a special Thanksgiving Day at home with their loved ones.  We are certainly thankful to our people for all of their efforts.

Sam's Club President and CEO Kathryn McLay expressed the same sentiments to her employees as well.

Since the beginning of this pandemic, I’ve been so proud to see how our associates have pulled together to take care of each other and our members.  These are extraordinary times, and our associates have lifted each other up in extraordinary ways, and we are so grateful.

Walmart also announced they will be giving out another round of bonus checks to their employees for their hard word and dedication $300 will go to full time employees and $150 will go to part time and temp employees.

This will make the third time the retail giant has given out bonuses to their employees totaling 1.1 billion dollars.

Walmart stores and Sam’s Club locations will operate normal hours on Wednesday, Nov. 25. Information for store and club hours on Friday, Nov. 27, will be shared at a later date.
