What to Know Before Your First Geek’d Con in Shreveport

Geek'd Con 2024 is happening this weekend Friday through Sunday, August 16th through the 18th at the Shreveport Convention Center in Downtown Shreveport. Every year there are so many new faces that come to Geek'd Con, really there are a lot of people with various questions regarding Geek'd Con.

What if Comic Cons are Not Your Thing But Your Friends All Want to Go?

Before Geek'd Con I had never been to any Comic Con type event. I too had a lot of questions. Like should I eat before I go? Are there snacks available? What does it feel like in there?

If You Have Never Been to Geek'd Con This Is My Advice for Geek'd Con First Timers.

Wear comfortable tennis or walking shoes. You will walk so much, you may think you won't be walking too much but you'll be getting several steps in, be comfortable.

Eat a big breakfast or lunch before you go. Yes, there will be snacks and meals available for purchase but you want to make sure that you can get there and get straight to the action.

Stand in the long lines first. It is easy to get caught up in the excitement of trying to see everything as soon as you show up, however, if there are actors that you really want to meet, knock that out first. Sometimes guests leave early or things happen, there is nothing worse than waiting until the last minute and missing your opportunity to meet the person you were there to meet in the first place.

Bring cash. It is so easy to overspend and lose track of how much you're spending at Geek'd Con, also, not all vendors and guests take credit card payments.

Charge your phone. There is nothing worse than your phone dying in the middle of Geek'd Con. You will be taking so many photos and videos.

Plan to spend several hours at Geek'd Con. Geek'd Con isn't something you can experience in an hour unless you plan on power-walking through the entire event. It is a day full of fun that you'll not be able to experience anywhere else.
