Like any other season, spring brings its own tasty unique flavors to the table.

If you haven't figured it out yet, I love food. Or maybe it's more than that. Much like Mandella says about her relationship with William Shakespeare in the movie 10 Things I Hate About You, "we're involved." So with the start of a new season, I find myself getting giddy about the light, bright and fresh spring dishes that are sure to be on my dining room table.

What kinds of food come to mind when you think of spring?

I think of pasta primavera with fresh herbs, salads with vibrant vinaigrettes, and fruit pies topped with a big dollop of whipped cream. It's all about light dishes that don't weigh you down. These are foods that are meant to be eaten outside in the sunshine.

Taste of Home recently put together a list of the best springtime recipes in each state. Maybe this is something you also make each year in your own way. Or maybe it's a brand new dish you can add to your spring lineup.

For Louisiana it's a carrot cake with pecan frosting. The recipe was submitted by Adrian Badon in Denham Springs. It's light, sweet and tastes like home. Not to mention that frosting is made from cream cheese and butter. Yes, I'll be licking the spoon.
