A lot of construction has been tying up I-220 lately, and this week is no exception.

Beginning Friday, May 15, work will begin for installation of temporary concrete barrier walls in the westbound lane and new transmission lines across the interstate. Louisiana DOTD says the work is necessary to continue new construction of the I-49 North/I-220 Interchange.

Additionally, work will begin for installation of overhead sign trusses on the Cross Lake Bridge, as well as near the Lakeshore, Jefferson Paige and Inner Loop exits.

All lanes of I-220 East and West will be closed to all traffic from North Market to I-20 for at least two days and three nights. The closures will be in place 24 hours a day from 8:00PM Friday until 4:00AM Monday, May 18.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
