‘X-Men’ Tops Tepid Memorial Day Weekend
It wasn't much of a start to the summer movie season as X-Men: Apocalypse debuted at the top of the Memorial Day weekend box office with $65 million, a sharp decline from its predecessor, X-Men: Days of Future Past's opening weekend of $110.5 million in 2014.
Alice Through the Looking Glass debuted in a distant second place with $28.1 million, while last week's No. 1, The Angry Birds Movie, fell to third place with $18.7 million.
Captain America: Civil War (4th, $15.1 million) and Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (5th, $9.1 million) rounded out the top five.
