Green Day have revealed that their guitarist Jason White (pictured left) is battling tonsil cancer. However, the good news is that he was diagnosed early on and doctors expect him to make full recovery.

The band made the announcement on their official website, stating, "We have some news to report regarding our brother Jason White, and wanted you to hear it from us before word spread. Jason recently underwent a routine tonsillectomy, and his doctors discovered a treatable form of tonsil cancer. Thankfully they caught it early and he should make a full and speedy recovery. Please join us in sending him love and positive healing vibes during this time."

White has been performing as a touring member of Green Day since 1999, and in 2012 the band named him an official member of the group.

It's been a tough year health-wise for the Green Day family, as the news of Jason White's cancer fight follows the news earlier this year that bassist Mike Dirnt's wife Brittney is battling breast cancer.

We'd like to send out best wishes to Jason White and continue to send Brittney Dirnt positive thoughts as they both battle cancer.
